Why does your air con always pack up when the weather is at its hottest!
We had our system re-gassed about a month ago and thought that we would survive the summer without problems but no, on a Sunday when no-one is available to help, our air con stopped working.
Now our houses are about 11 years old and I guess that the air con has never been replaced during that time so perhaps it is at the end of its lifespan. Our systems consist of two outdoor units. One services the second and third bedrooms and the other services the lounge and master bedroom. Guess which one packed up - the lounge and master bedroom of course.
So last night was a very hot, sticky night and although we could have slept in the other double room we have got friends coming to stay soon and it is all nice and clean and tidy for them. If we had slept in there then so would our dog (he sleeps on the floor). So rather than make a mess in our guest room we slept in the heat of our bedroom.
I know it is a luxury having air con but we are still getting acclimatised and although our neighbour insists that for financial reasons she only allows her air con to be on for an hour before they go to bed we haven't seen yet how much it will cost us. So it's a bit of sod that and we'll worry about that after it happens!
But back to the air con not working. Well my OH has gone down to the port to speak to the friendly people at the air con shop. He hasn't returned yet, I hope he's still not trying to explain what has gone wrong
