I know the journey well through France. The last few years before we moved here we used to drive as we got fed up with the way you were treated on a plane. I haven't been back to visit the UK (apart from a funeral shortly after we got our dog) as I don't want to leave Freddy in kennels here. It was bad enough being dumped as a young dog. I am sure he would panic as he doesn't like us to be out of his sight. We did consider taking him with us and driving to visit my mum but I think even being left for 8 hours in a cage on the ferry would be too much for him. How did you manage with 3 cats and a dog??? I have said that the only time I would put him through that would be with a one way ticket! Originally my mum said she would come and visit as she loves Mallorca too but now she says she is too old! I saw the update about a possible sighting in Bon Aire. I do hope that someone finds her soon. Meanwhile I will continue spreading the word. Best wishes. Yes the journey is a nightmare. Not least because of the ferry. However we didn't realise that if we had prebooked a cabin, they might have let us take the animals inside. I say might as it's at the discretion of the ferry crew. Apart from that we had to book hotels that accepted animals however as the majority only accept two, we had to sneak two more in when the reception staff were not looking! Added to which we got lost going through Paris and lost our oil cap en route. This we discovered in Calais so we were forced to liberate one from a scrap yard. One of the cats' passport was incorrectly stamped - which we found out at the Eurotunnel pet check in. A mad dash back to Calais to find a sympathetic vet to re stamp the passport. All in all a complete nightmare at the time but one which we really do laugh about now!!

OMG I think I would have had a major headache! Glad you can laugh about it now though The things you do for your pets! Would definitely recommend the Eurotunnel though. The pet check in guy was amazing and rang the vet in advance. Good job, as my French is awful. I hope your mum feels up to travelling soon. I'm sure the sun would do her good and the passenger assistance at Palma airport is great. My mum came over to see us a few times in Mallorca and she has to travel with a wheelchair.
